The National Works Agency (NWA) says traffic changes are to be implemented on Sunday along a section of the Mandela Highway, which is currently being upgrading.

The NWA says a detour route will be introduced near the Hydel Group of Schools which will impact motorists heading towards Spanish Town.

According to the NWA’s Communication Manager Stephen Shaw, the detour will facilitate the construction of the southern abutment to the overpass bridge.

The overpass bridge will facilitate access to schools, business establishments, the police station and the Ferry community.

Two bridges are now under construction as part of the US$64 million Mandela Highway improvement project.

Shaw also says more changes will be announced in the next few weeks, as the contractors ramp up the activities.

He says the changes will be announced as soon as all stakeholders have been engaged and all technical issues addressed.

Motorists are being reminded to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs on the Mandela Highway.
