The five people charged in connection with an attempted extortion ring targeting businesses in central Jamaica were again remanded when they appeared in the Manchester Parish Court today.

Sheila Smith, Beko March, Keeno Powell, Sandre Bogle, and Careba Salmon are each charged with six counts of extortion and conspiracy to extort.

They were ordered to return to court on Wednesday, April 19.

Salmon will however, reappear on April 5 when her attorney Joel Nelson is expected to make another bail application.

All five were also denied bail when they appeared in court yesterday because two statements from the investigating officers were outstanding.

Having received those statements, the judge said it was best to remand the accused.
