Man sentenced to 17 years for sexually assaulting a child
Thirty-year-old David Walters was today sentenced to a total of 17 years' imprisonment at hard labour for sexually assaulting a child.
Walters was sentenced to 14 years for carnal abuse and three years for indecent assault by High Court judge Carolyn Tie in the St Catherine Circuit Court.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
Walters' co-accused, Jodian Lindo, was sentenced to three years for carnal abuse and three years for aiding and abetting indecent assault.
The sentences are to run at the same time.
They were both found guilty on March 29.
The crown led evidence that in 2009 the complainant went to visit Lindo.
She was reportedly sleeping and was awakened by Lindo who took her to Walters who sexually assaulted her.
A report was made to the Ewarton police and following an investigation both were charged with five counts of carnal abuse and indecent assault.
