The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says there will be traffic changes in downtown Kingston on Tuesday.

This is to facilitate the launch of the 145th anniversary of Kingston being capital of Jamaica.

The event will be put on by the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation at the St William Grant Park.

As a result of the activities, the South Parade roadway and Lay By will be closed from 2 p.m.- 6 p.m.

There will also be a partial closure of Church Street in the vicinity of East Parade; one lane will be kept open for vehicular traffic.

The following changes will occur:
i) As at 1:30 p.m. all Portmore and Spanish Town buses that typically travel up King Street to use South Parade Lay-by must instead travel up Orange Street and park along that corridor for loading.

ii) Between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. all buses already in the South Parade Lay-By should depart.

iii) Buses travelling from East, East Queen Street, may divert along East Street – Port Royal Street – Orange Street OR Church Street – Barry Street/ Port Royal Street – Orange Street to get back to West and North Parade.

iv) Buses travelling from North, from direction Cross Roads, will be able to travel down Upper King Street and enter Parade but will be required to loop Church Street – Barry Street/Port Royal Street – Orange Street to get back to West Parade and North Parade.
