MANDEVILLE, Manchester:

The Manchester police have now charged a university student who is also the girlfriend of an alleged gang leader who was taken into custody on Friday in connection with the kidnapping of two businessmen in the parish.

She is 25-year-old Rosemarie Moore.

Having been questioned by the police in the presence of her lawyer, Moore was yesterday charged with kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap.

The date for her court appearance will be decided today.

On Thursday, March 23, two businessmen were kidnapped by gunmen, tied up and left in a house before being moved to bushes.

The wife of one of the businessmen was contacted, told to withdraw $1 million and leave it at a particular location in the town.

Undercover police who were on location arrested the man who showed up to collect the ransom.

The businessmen were later found at a house unharmed.
