Flash flood warning issued for some parishes

A flash flood warning has been issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Kingston and St Andrew, St Thomas, Portland and St Mary.

The Meteorological Service has continued a flash flood watch issued last evening for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester and St Ann.

The measures, which are to remain in effect until 5 o’clock this evening, comes amid heavy rains across large sections of the island in the last 24 hours.

The Met Service says a trough across the western Caribbean and Jamaica continues to influence weather conditions across the island.

It says the forecast is for showers, which could be heavy at times, to continue affecting sections of central and eastern parishes for the next 24 hours.

As a result, the Met Service says flash flooding is imminent or likely over some low-lying and flood-prone areas in the parishes it has identified.
