PM, gov't officials to tour flood-affected areas
Prime Minister Andrew Holness says political representatives and state agencies will today tour areas affected by yesterday's heavy rains .
In a statement last night, he said he was briefed by the National Works Agency (NWA) on the extent of the damage to infrastructure and Government agencies and local representatives have been mobilised.
Holness says the Clarendon Municipal Corporation has activated its Emergency Operation Centre to support residents who may need support.
He notes that there is concern about flooding and blockage of roads in several communities in Clarendon, as well as the eastern parishes of St Thomas and Portland.
The prime minister is urging all residents of flood-prone and low-lying areas to be vigilant and listen to the instructions of the authorities, should the need arise to take action.
