UTech to allow students owing fees to sit exams
President of the University of Technology (UTech) Stephen Vasciannie says the university has decided to allow students in arrears to sit their end of term exams.
In a statement, Professor Vasciannie indicated the decision came after consultation between officials of the Ministry of Education and UTech.
He says this arrangement is being made on the assumption that the fees owed to the university by Jamaican students will be paid by the Government of Jamaica for the current year.
He says the relief shall apply to undergraduate students in all years.
The UTech president says the Government anticipates that all students who receive the relief under this arrangement are economically in need.
He says such students will be required to take part in some form of service to the Government or the community.
