A raging fire at the Myersville Dump in St Elizabeth which started sometime after 8:00 p.m. yesterday has been put out.

Regional operations manager at Southern Parks and Markets, Edward Muir, says firefighters extinguished the fire some time after 1 a.m. today, but are still at the scene conducting cooling down operations.

Arson is suspected to be the cause of the fire, however, Muir says the cause should be known by tomorrow after firefighters and the police conclude their investigations.

He says the dump is without security personnel and efforts are being made to place guards at the site.
