Jamaica praised on accession to Hague Convention
Jamaica is being commended for its accession today to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.
The commendation was made today by the Canadian Government, which says it’s an important development in the global effort to address international parental child abduction.
The Convention protects children internationally from the harmful effects of their wrongful removal through a process that allows for their prompt return to their homes.
High Commission of Canada says Canada looks forward to the implementation of the Convention in Jamaica and stands ready to share its experience with the Government of Jamaica.
Jamaica is the 97th Contracting State to the Convention.
