The Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) has written to Labour Minister Shahine Robinson appealing for her intervention to stave off industrial action at the National Insurance Fund owned El Greco Hotel in Montego Bay, St James.

The union says its letter comes on the heels of the sudden dismissal of one of the Unions delegates, who is also the longest serving employee at the hotel.

The BITU contends that this latest move continues an unfortunate trend of disregard and disrespect shown to the unionised workers.

Chief Organizer for the BITU, Collin Virgo, says the workers are highly restive over this issue as well as a number of other actions they consider union busting.

The BITU says it’s hoping Robinson will use her power to have the issues resolved to ensure there is no disruption today.

The union says it has also written to the Board of El Greco Hotel demanding an immediate Management Audit of the entire facility.
