The Ministry of Education is advising that all educational schools in flood prone areas of southern parishes should remain closed today.

The National Meteorological Service and The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management have reported that parts of St Catherine, Clarendon, Manchester and St Elizabeth are most likely to be affected by flooding from the continuing heavy rains.

The Education Ministry says parents and schools administrators are being asked to exercise extreme caution.

Those in other parishes are asked to be guided by the advisories from the Met Service and ODPEM.

The ministry says the Overseas Examination Commission will be issuing an advisory on the procedures to be implemented for those students who are due to sit Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate exams today.

The Ministry is also advising that a consultation among Principals of secondary schools planned for today at Jamaica College is being postponed.

A new date will be announced.
