The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) says it has temporarily suspended garbage collection in eastern, northern and central parishes because of the heavy rains.

Executive Director of the NSWMA, Audley Gordon, says garbage collection is being suspended to ensure the safety of its collection crews and the agency’s assets.

He says residents should containerise their solid waste and securely store them until collections resume.

Gordon says regional teams will assess the situation and provide further updates.
