Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie says arrangements are being made to provide funding to the St Ann Municipal Corporation to respond to disaster situations in the parish arising from the bad weather.

Mckenzie says sections of the parish are severely damaged.

He cited the Cave Valley as one of the worse affected.

Speaking with The Gleaner Deputy Mayor of St Ann’s Bay, Sidney Stewart, expressed concern that continued heavy rains will spell disaster for the residents of Cave Valley.

Stewarts says the municipal corporation is trying to ensure the safety of residents.

He says emergency centres are to be opened at the nearby Clarksonville and Inverness primary schools.
