Transport Minister Mike Henry says he’s examining what concessions can be given to public transport operators following the recent heavy rains which have damaged many roadways.

The transport minister notes that it is a challenge for the operators to strictly adhere to their prescribed routes ahead of repairs to the damaged roadways.

Henry says given the overall volume of road damage that has been recorded across the country, it is not practical to expect all of it to be repaired in the short term.

He says the Transport Authority has an obligation to at least consider the circumstances being faced by the operators and, where practical, apply some temporary remedial measures.

He says he’ll be seeking to convene a meeting with the leadership of the Transport Authority to discuss the matter.
