Audley Gordon, the Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), says the agency is moving to get additional garbage trucks to help clear waste generated by Labour Day activities.

Gordon says the level of debris seen is more than the agency expected.

He says in addition to the usual tree cuttings and vegetation, there are also a lot of bulky waste.

He says additional resources are therefore needed to remove all the waste.

The NSWMA head says the agency is to undertake a full assessment and will then roll out a plan of action.
