The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists that the traffic signals at Flat Bridge in the Bog Walk Gorge, St Catherine are out of operation.

Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Stephen Shaw, says this is because critical electrical components, were damaged during last week’s flood rains.

According to Mr Shaw, the cabinet which houses the electrical controls for the traffic lights was impacted by water and heavy deposits of sand and it will take some time before it may be restored.

Shaw says an estimate of the damage has been prepared to source funds to undertake the repairs.

The NWA is therefore advising motorists to proceed with caution along the roadway and to treat the approaches to the Flat Bridge as a four-way crossing where everyone must stop.
