Chairman of the Jamaica Federation of Correctional Officers, Arlington Turner, is welcoming the move to subject new recruits to polygraph testing.

Turner says too many have entered the system who are not fit to serve. He says the test will assist with rooting out corrupt officers.

Prior to now, only recruits to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) undergo polygraphing as part of the vetting process.

But the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) said the National Security Council was informed that the programme has now been expanded to the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), noting that the last batch of recruits was tested prior to selection for training.
