The National Water Commission (NWC) says it expects to complete repair works by this week along on East and North Streets in downtown Kingston where sections of roads have collapsed.

Acting Corporate Public Relations Manager, Karen Williams, says the problem is caused by a broken sewer lateral in the vicinity of Missionaries of the Poor property along North Street.

Williams further says water from a storm drain is seeping into a trench along East Street which caused a sink to develop along a section of the road.

Williams says a work crew is addressing the problem.

She says the recent repairs carried out along North Street did not play a role in the current problem.
