The Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAC) says it condemns the brutal and wanton act of cruelty on Councillor Karl Blake and his secretary Maxine Simpson.

The 56-year-old Councillor for the Greenwich Town Division in Southwest St Andrew constituency was shot and injured while 52-year-old Simpson was fatally shot on Sunday night.

Blake remains hospitalised.

The police say Blake and Simpson were sitting outside the Caribbean Estate Community Centre along Spanish Town Road when armed men entered the premises and opened fire, hitting both of them.

The KSAC says it wishes Blake a speedy recovery.

It says Simpson will be missed and it mourns her untimely passing.

The KSAC is appealing to residents to assist the police in their investigation.
