The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) says it has included Jamaican health facilities in a project aimed at making them safer, greener and more resilient to natural disasters.

The initiative falls under the framework of the Smart Health Care Facilities Project, backed by UKaid and the UK Department for International Development.

The project is financed by the United Kingdom's Department for International Development and implemented through the PAHO Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief Department, in partnership with the Ministry of Health in each target country.

Sixteen hospitals and health centers in seven Caribbean countries are slated to benefit from the programme.
