Policeman fingered in killing of 20-y-o Westmoreland woman reassigned
The policeman accused by residents of being involved in the killing of 20 year-old Shantel Wright in Westmoreland has been reassigned.
The police's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) confirmed his reassignment. It says he has also been cooperating with investigators.
The CCU says the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is also involved in the probe.
Wright's body was discovered in Westmoreland on Friday after she had been reported missing.
Residents staged a protest on the same day accusing a policeman of her killing, but the police say there is no evidence at this time pointing to his involvement in her death.
The police have pledged to keep the public informed of the progress of the investigation.
They're urging calm and are asking residents to assist by telling what they know.
