House to pay tribute to Portia Simpson Miller next week
The House of Representatives is to pay tribute to former prime minister and outgoing Member of Parliament Portia Simpson Miller next week Tuesday.
Last week, Leader of Opposition Business in the House of Representatives, Phillip Paulwell, announced that Simpson Miller is to resign as the Member of Parliament for South West St Andrew on June 29.
The move brings to an end more than 40 years of representational politics by Simpson Miller.
She began her departure in April when she did not offer herself for re-election as President of the People’s National Party.
She was replaced by Dr. Peter Phillips.
Simpson Miller was also replaced by Phillips as Leader of the Opposition.
