Highway 2000 operators confirm toll hike
The operators of Highway 2000 have confirmed there’s to be an increase in toll rates come July 1.
Last week, The Gleaner reported that the toll rates are set to go up by 10 per cent for all classes of vehicles.
In a newspaper ad yesterday, the operators of the highway said drivers of Class One vehicles, which include motor cars and some crossovers, will have to pay $220 to use the Portmore Toll Road; $160 at the Spanish Town Toll Plaza; $440 at the Vineyards Plaza; and $110 at May Pen.
The toll for Class Two vehicles will be $640 at the Vineyards, $240 at Spanish Town, $350 at Portmore and $180 at May Pen.
Drivers of trucks and trailers will have to pay $670 to use the Portmore Toll Road; $440 at Spanish Town; $1,210 at the Vineyards Plaza; and $360 at May Pen.
The operators of Highway 2000 East-West say they have no choice but to adjust the toll rate due to increases in recurring input costs for road maintenance.
