Electronic monitoring of persons on bail coming
The Government is to introduce electronic monitoring of persons out on bail, especially those charged with serious crimes.
National Security Minister Robert Montague said negotiations are being held with a supplier to provide the equipment.
Speaking in Parliament, Montague said the move is aimed at addressing the problem of persons out on bail committing other offence.
Montague did not give a timeline when the system will be introduced.
He was contributing to the debate on the Zones of Special Operation Bill.
The security minister argued that the law is another tool available to the police to tackle crime.
