Assistant Commissioner Warren Clarke.

Assistant Commissioner Warren Clarke says all Jamaicans should be concerned about the negative impact criminals continue to have on the nation’s children.

Clarke also expressed concern about what he describes as the prevalence of guns across the parishes that comprise the Police Area One.

The Area One Police covers Trelawny, St James, Hanover and Westmoreland.

He says the police is particularly concerned about the prevalence of guns in unstructured communities where criminality is rampant and children are easily influenced by what they see around them.

Since the start of the year, a total of 255 persons have been killed across the four parishes, with St James accounting for 138.
