Holness wants crime and violence discussion added to next summit agenda
Prime Minister Holness has warned his CARICOM colleagues that crime and violence are issues they will be grappling with and wants them to be agenda items for discussion at the next summit to be held in Kingston.
Holness told reporters yesterday evening that while crime and violence was not on the agenda for the just concluded summit, he took the opportunity to raise the matter and leaders agreed for it be included on the agenda items for the next summit in July next year.
The prime minister said regional governments have to take a proactive approach to addressing the issue.
He said discussing crime and violence at the next summit will start the process for a collective approach to finding solutions at the regional level.
