A Canadian investor has told councillors at the St Thomas Municipal Corporation that he has had to halt plans for a project at the old Goodyear property following a government announcement that it will be establishing a town centre on the site.

Addressing councillors and agencies a short while ago, CEO of Bigga Media Group, Oral McPherson, said he had planned to spend US$100 million to build an entertainment complex on the property.

But he says he will now have to identify a new location.

McPherson says the project will begin immediately after he identifies land and will take approximately one year to be completed.

He says the complex is to include a film studio, luxury hotels and condo units, a shopping centre and a park.

According to McPherson, the project will employ thousands of locals.

The plans were welcomed by the St Thomas Municipal Corporation which indicated that it will assist in identifying appropriate land space.
