Police investigators are now at the scene of a deadly shooting in the St Elizabeth town of Santa Cruz.

It's reported that sometime after 4.30 p.m, Warrenton Barham, the former candidate for the Siloah Division was at his business place when he pulled his firearm during an altercation with a woman.

The police say a district constable who was nearby, responded and ordered Barham to put down the weapon but he refused and subsequently shot the woman before pointing it at the cop.

The district constable then pulled his weapon and shot Barham killing him on the spot.

The woman also died on the spot.

According to the police, last week a woman filed a report at the Santa Cruz Police Station complaining that Barham had pulled his weapon on her.

It could not be immediately ascertained whether she is the same person with whom Barham had an altercation today.

Two years ago, Barham's licensed firearm was seized after he reportedly pulled it on another woman.

However, it was returned after the matter was heard in court.
