Councillor for the Payne Land division of the Kingston and St Andrew Muncipal Corporation, Audrey Smith-Facey says she is awaiting formal communication from the secretariat of the People’s National Party (PNP) certifying her candidacy as the standard bearer for the party in a by-election to be held in St Andrew South West.
Smith-Facey’s comments come against the background of a video on social media purported to be an endorsement of PNP vice president Angella Brown Burk by the former MP, Portia Simpson Miller.

In a media release, Smith-Facey said the video emerged after the party closed the nomination period.

The PNP councillor says she expects that the rules as initially set out by the party secretariat will apply evenly, equally and equitably.

"I look forward to leading the development of SW St Andrew through the next legs of our relay," Smith Facey said noting too that she was expecting the support of the residents of the constituency, the business community and other stakeholders.

"I continue to wish councillor Brown Burke every success as she continues her mission of representing the people of Norman Gardens where she is loved and welcomed," Smith Facey also said.
