Men charged in Green Pond student's murder get new court date
The two men charged with murder in connection with the death of 15-year-old Green Pond High School student Shineka Gray, earlier this year, will undergo a committal hearing in September, for their case to be transferred to the St James Circuit Court.
The men, Mario Morrison and Gregory Roberts, received the new date and were subsequently remanded in police custody by presiding judge Sandria Wong-Small, following their appearance in the St James Parish Court today.
The court was told that the prosecution is still awaiting a Communications Forensic and Cyber-Crimes Unit report concerning cell-phone data, to add to its case-file.
Judge Wong-Small then instructed that the document bundles should be submitted by August 17, in preparation for the committal hearing on September 19.
Shineka Gray’s body was found with multiple stab wounds in bushes in the Irwin community in St James on February 1, three days after she had gone missing while returning from the funeral of a schoolmate.
