These photos, released by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, show high-powered weapons among the find at Newport West on Thursday.

The Gleaner/Power106 News Centre understands that the 15 guns and over 4,000 rounds of ammunition seized at a shipping company in Newport West this week was destined for a gang based in Drews Land, in St Andrew.

Law enforcement officials say investigations have so far revealed that the weapons, some of them high-powered rifles, were shipped from the United States.

According to one official, the gang is at war with a rival faction in the community and sought reinforcement from their cronies overseas.

The police say no one has been arrested in connection with the weapons.
