The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) has announced it will open an independence village in Western Jamaica.

The JCDC has already opened an independence village at the National Stadium in Kingston.

It says one will also open at the Closed Harbour Beach or Dump Up Beach in Montego Bay, St James, for three days, beginning Friday.

It says the Western Village will feature rides and attractions, display booths and promotional displays, a Kiddies Village, food court and nightly concerts.

It says all Western Village events are free of cost.
