The Government says it has started wage negotiations with the island’s teachers for the 2017/2019 contract period.

State Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Public Service, Rudyard Spencer, met with members of the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA), on Friday.

He reportedly told JTA representatives the Government wishes to have the discussions wrapped up as soon as possible.

A release from the finance ministry says the government is set to begin negotiations with the Jamaica Police Federation on August 28.
