A section of Charlton Avenue in the vicinity of the Charlton Gully in St Andrew is to be closed as of Thursday to facilitate the rehabilitation of the roadway.

The roadway is to be closed as of 10 o’clock in the morning and will remain so until August 29.

Acting Communication and Customer Services Manager at the National Works Agency, Janel Ricketts, says the project involves the excavation of the road surface and resurfacing using concrete.

Ricketts says during the period of closure, commuters travelling from the direction of Constant Spring towards Charlton Avenue, may travel via Grants Pen roadway, onto Shortwood Road and then turn left onto Charlton Avenue.

The reverse obtains for commuters travelling in the opposite direction.

The works will be undertaken by Cemex, through funding made available by the Caribbean Cement Company Limited.

Motorists are being advised to obey the posted warning signs and the instructions of flag persons.

The NWA says the police will assist with traffic management.
