Opposition Leader to present solutions to crime woes
Opposition Leader Dr Peter Phillips says he will be recommending solutions to address Jamaica’s crime problem when he hosts a press conference this afternoon.
The press conference is scheduled for 1 o’clock at the People’s National Party’s Old Hope Road headquarters in St Andrew.
The Opposition spokesman on national security Peter Bunting will also address the press conference.
Jamaica’s murder figure for 2017 continues to rise with 978 people killed up to August 23.
This is 185 more or a 23.3 per cent increase over the corresponding period last year.
As at August 23, 110 persons were murdered for the month.
This is compared to 137 last month, followed by 157 in June and 138 in May.
