Mayor of Montego Bay, Homer Davis, says the St James Municipal Corporation will be naming and shaming persons prosecuted for littering.

Mayor Davis says the move is to force persons to think twice before they improperly dispose of their garbage.

He points out that a number of persons have been ticketed for littering.

The MoBay Mayor was speaking last week Thursday at the official opening a new garbage disposal site in Norwood in the parish.

The site will serve as the designated area for residents to dispose of their garbage, where it can be collected by the National Solid Waste Management Authority and taken to a dump facility.

Mayor Davis said the garbage will be collected from the site three times per week.

He said the corporation will take a zero-tolerance approach to littering.
