Robert Pickersgill to be named PNP chairman emeritus

After chairing the People's National Party (PNP) for 25 consecutive years, Robert Pickersgill is to be honoured by the party and named chairman emeritus.

General Secretary of the PNP Julian Robinson made the disclosure at a press conference today at the party's headquarters, Old Hope Road in St Andrew.

Pickersgill who will be stepping down as chairman of the party this week, presided over his last press conference today.

The party has announced that its annual conference, this year, will be held over a four-day period, beginning this Thursday.

Party president Dr Peter Phillips will address the conference for the first time as party leader.
