Drivers and Mechanics engaged to the Jamaica Fire Brigade are to resume normal service today pending the outcome of a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Local Government and the Brigade.

The Drivers and Mechanics islandwide went on Work to Rule On Tuesday to register their disappointment with the Brigade’s management over the 2015-2017 wage negotiations.

The National Workers’ Union said little progress had been made in the negotiations with only three items on its 23 point claim agreed to.

However, yesterday, it said the drivers and mechanics would return to work at 7 o’clock this morning after it received communication from the Minister of Local Government, Desmond McKenzie.

McKenzie has reportedly instructed a team led by the Permanent Secretary to meet with the parties in an effort to amicably settle the matter.
