Flash Flood Watch extended for some parishes

The Flash Flood Watch issued by the National Meteorological Service for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Kingston, St Andrew, St Thomas, Portland and St Mary has been extended until 5 o’clock today.

The Met Service says the forecast is for more rainfall until Monday.

It says the weather condition across the island is being influenced by a Trough associated with Hurricane Jose, which is located to the north of the Caribbean.

As a result, the Met Service says the forecast is for light to moderate showers and thunderstorms to continue affecting the island until Monday.

A Flash Flood Watch means that flooding is likely and residents should take precautionary measures and be ready to relocate quickly if flooding is observed or if the Met Service issues a Flash Flood Warning.
