Decision on committal proceeding in Shineka Gray murder case delayed
The St James Parish Court has delayed its decision on a committal proceeding against Mario Morrison and Gregory Roberts, who are charged with the murder of 15-year-old schoolgirl Shineka Gray.
Parish judge Sandria Wong-Small put off the matter after attorney-at-law Martyn Thomas, who represents Roberts, requested more time to review documents which he had recently received.
The case was then rescheduled to October 9.
The committal hearing is to be used to decide whether the case against the two men should be transferred to the next sitting of the St James Circuit Court, which is scheduled to begin in January.
Gray, who was a Grade 10 student at Green Pond High School in St James, was found dead in bushes in the Irwin community on February one, three days after she had gone missing.
She went missing after returning from the funeral of a schoolmate.
Her body had multiple stab wounds.
