The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) is reminding individuals that the deadline to register for the next voters’ list is Friday, September 29, 2017.

Persons intending to have their name added to this list, which will be published on November 30, 2017, must apply at an EOJ constituency office before the cut-off date.

Persons who meet the September deadline should expect to receive their ID cards by mid-December.

Electors who register after September 29 will have to wait until May 31, 2018 to be added to the list.

The EOJ says A total of $15,589 applications have been received since the start of the registration period on April 1, 2017.

It says Individuals who are already registered to vote do not need to reapply.

However, the EOJ is encouraging registered electors who have changed addresses to visit their constituency office and apply for a transfer of registration.

This will ensure that the elector’s information on the voters’ list remains up to date.

While registration is continuous, the Electoral Commission of Jamaica updates the voters’ list every six months, on May 31 and November 30 of each year.
