More space coming for judges and prosecutors at Justice Square

Justice Minister Delroy Chuck says preparations are being made to have more space available for judges and prosecutors at Justice Square in downtown Kingston.

The expansion of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions as well as courtrooms for the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal has been hampered due to a lack of space.

The space shortage has contributed to the case backlog.

In an interview on Power 106, Chuck said the relocation of Accountant General's Department from the Supreme Court building has been completed, freeing up much needed space.

He said the aim is to have the vacant space operational by early next year.
