ODPEM providing funding to purchase fire boats

McKenzie says the boats will better enable firefighters to respond to emergencies.

The Jamaica Fire Brigade is to be provided with more than $30 million to purchase fire boats.

Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie says the funds are being provided by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management.

McKenzie says the boats will better enable firefighters to respond to emergencies.

He was speaking at a recent Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation town hall meeting in Frankfield, Clarendon.

McKenzie also disclosed that funds will be allocated to repair the Frankfield Fire Station and discussions held to supply the station with a new fire unit.
