A man was burnt beyond recognition after the car he was driving crashed and burst into flames early this morning on the Salt Marsh main road in Trelawny.

Head of Operations at the Police Traffic Division, Superintendent Courtney Cubrie, says the dead man has been identified only as Carvel McDonald.

Superintendent Cubrie says details of McDonald's identity are still sketchy but he is believed to be a tour operator from St Ann.

He says McDonald was driving a Toyota motor car towards Montego Bay when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into another car.

Superintendent Cubrie says McDonald's car then overturned and burst into flames, resulting in him being burnt to death.
