Two St Catherine policemen who were charged with grievous sexual assault have been freed by the St Catherine Parish Court.

Corporal Hopeton Reid and Constable Jermaine Anderson, who are attached to the Portmore Police Station, were freed today by parish judge Simone Wolfe-Reece.

Wolfe-Reece upheld a no-case submission made by the defense.

The men were freed after the complainant failed to appear in court.

It was alleged that in 2008 the policemen were on duty when they found the complainant and a man in a compromising position.

The cops allegedly demanded money in exchange for withholding prosecution.

The complainant was taken to an ATM but when no money was forthcoming she was allegedly forced by the cops to perform oral sex on them.

A report was subsequently made to the police and the cops were later arrested and charged.

The cops denied the allegations.
