The Kiwanis Club of Young Professionals, Kingston, Jamaica (KYPKJ) donated four wall fans to the Pentecostal Early Childhood Development Centre in Spanish Town, St Catherine in an effort to improve the learning environment.

The fans will benefit approximately 63 students aged three to six years old in addition to their four teachers. The fans will help to improve the school's physical environment which is one of the 12 operational standards set by the Early Childhood Commission.

Speaking at the event, State Minister in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, Floyd Green applauded the KYPKJ for the donation.

"We do have standards that our early childhood institutions are supposed to meet [and] the reality is that all of them that I have met with want to meet the standards, want to be certified but the reality is that unless they get some help, unless there is solid partnership, they won't be able to because we all know the resources at this level from the parents are very hard to come by. I want to encourage the Kiwanis and other service organisations to donate," Green said.
