New Kingston police post set to close, MP appeals for intervention
The Member of Parliament for St Andrew South East Julian Robinson is this evening appealing for the urgent intervention of the Ministry of National Security to prevent the closure of the New Kingston Police Post.
According to Robinson, the ministry was served last year with a notice by the owners of the premises that house the police post.
He says the owners indicated that they needed the premises by today.
But according to Robinson, there has been no response from the ministry.
He says stakeholders in the New Kingston area have offered to help identify an alternative location to prevent the closure of the police post, which serves residents and businesses in that community.
But the South East St Andrew Member of Parliament says it is critical that the National Security Minister Robert Montague intervenes now and hold dialogue with the owners to find a solution to the impending closure.
