Less than half of $565m owing in traffic tickets collected
Less than half the $565 million in outstanding traffic tickets have been collected by the government with just three weeks before the end of a three-month amnesty.
National Security Minister Robert Montague disclosed during the weekly sitting of Parliament yesterday that $160 million have been collected so far.
Montague urged delinquents to take advantage of the amnesty.
Under the three-month amnesty, which will end on October 31, motorists are able to pay without penalties or additional fees tickets issued between September 1, 2010 and July 31, 2017.
Motorists may pay outstanding traffic tickets online, using Tax Administration Jamaica’s website: jamaicatax.gov.jm – or at any tax office islandwide.
