Case against mother accused of beating child with machete adjourned until November
The case of the St Thomas mother who was seen in a video beating her daughter with a machete has been adjourned until November 15.
Forty-four-year-old Doreen Dyer is charged with cruelty to a child.
The matter was called up in the St Thomas Parish Court this morning with her attorney Bertram Anderson telling the judge that full disclosure has not been made.
Anderson also said he needs time to prepare his case.
The matter was then adjourned.
Dyer, who is from Bath district in the parish, was charged last week Tuesday by the police and was subsequently offered bail.
The video shows the partially nude mother beating the girl violently with a machete while cursing expletives.
The police said their investigation revealed that the incident happened last year.
